SO Behind!
I know, I know, it’s been another few weeks since I have written. I can’t seem to make it here often enough, and I really feel badly about that. I don’t even remember what I last wrote, other than mentioning I owed some updates. But how far back do I need to update? I think I will work my way backwards.
This weekend we are going to Madison, WI and the Dells. In two weeks we are going on a church campout at Many Point Scout camp. A week after that Zachary is going on his Boy Scout camp out. We are hopeful that other than a family reunion in July, it’s a month we can just sit at home and relax. Oh, and of course I forgot about Reese’s birthday party. It is on June 20th at 6:00 PM. I want to send out an email invite that I made, but there is a bee in the basement and we are all too scared to go kill it! Lame, I know! Right now I am using Zach’s laptop at the library while I wait for band to be done. If it’s on my jump drive I’ll put it here.
Zach: His Eagle project went well. The final write up is done. He now needs to get some letters of recommendation and fill out paperwork. Thanks to everyone that helped. Today he has an interview with the local paper and is excited about that. Tonight he presents the project at City Council. (He has already presented it to the Parks and Rec board.) He did a wonderful job in his quartet for the honors band recital. He also had a physical for Scout Camp and is too skinny. He has a suspicious curve to his spine that isn’t enough to be labled scoliosis or require a brace at this point, but we are to monitor it. The doctor thinks that it is as bad as it gets, and you can only really tell when he is bending over. Everything else is going great!
Gabby had a fun birthday party. She had her friends over and they told scary ghost stories all night. She requested taking a break from piano lessons for the summer. She is excited about camping with the other girls at church. She also had a physical and is also too skinny. :-) But everything looks good. Both she and Zach finally got the Chicken Pox vaccine, having dodged that bullet to a point where the disease gets dangerous (it hits teens and adults harder.) Gabby is much braver with shots than her brother!
Ethan had piano lessons for one month. Then decided he wanted to be done for the summer. He wants to do percussion in the school band and you have to have piano under your belt to be considered. He earned his Webelos badge and a bunch of belt loops and activity badges and is having a great time in Scouts. He is the first to be done with all his school work.
Alisa’s reading has taken off! She is really enjoying it now, and we are breathing sigh’s of relief. She is having fun trying out rollerskates and trying to learn to ride a bike, but isn’t quite brave enough for that.
Dylan is loving being outside. He is Mark’s shadow out there. He has discovered the joys of peeing in the bushes though, and now prefers that to going inside. We’ll have to train him again! He too is trying to learn to ride a bike and is actually better at it than Alisa. He gets mad when I let go, even though he goes about 20 feet on his own. I try to tell them I HAVE to let go sometime, but they both get angry when I do it!
Reese is doing great. Almost 2! We cut off 12 inches of mullet and she loves her new hair do. She swishes it around and feels her neck and says “Hair cut!” We aren’t officially potty training her, but every morning she likes to take the diaper off and give it a go. This AM was the first time she went in the potty and we all clapped for her and she was excited.
Mark and I are good. I am exausted from being so busy. I really look forward to being able to just be still. Mark loves to be outside in the garden (which is going well) and the yard. We put a fence around the garden and have begun some minor landscaping. It’s a work in progress, since plants are so expensive, but we can’t wait until the day it’s all as beautiful as we had it in Glencoe before we moved. Oh, and our apples trees were LOADED with blossoms this year. It was so pretty!
I had 101 comments in moderation and all of them were people who type a bunch of words (some innapropriate) probably to have their name or product reach a Google search. Knock it off people, because it will never be approved!
Ok, I have to go. I will update with our Madison trip next week. I promise! Ha! Hmm, it doesn’t want to let me make Reese’s invite a thumbnail. I’ll have to fix that later.
